Under the theme Science under threat, we share stories that capture how recent federal actions have disrupted research programs, careers, and collaborations across the Great Lakes region. While the challenges are real and ongoing, the voices gathered here also underscore resilience, determination, and the shared commitment to caring for our lakes. The issue explores how institutions and researchers are navigating uncertainty, from setbacks in the field and lab to calls for renewed support, long-term binational planning, and resilience.
