About Lakes Letter
Lakes Letter is the quarterly magazine of the International Association for Great Lakes Research (IAGLR), published to connect and celebrate our members while sharing important research and community news.
Published four times per year (February, May, August, and November), each issue explores a specific theme through feature articles, research briefs, and community updates.
What We Publish
Each issue of Lakes Letter typically includes:
- 4-6 Feature Articles – In-depth explorations of current research, environmental issues, and lake management topics
- 2-4 Research Briefs – Concise summaries of recent scientific findings and ongoing studies
- Member Kudos – Recognition of awards, achievements, and milestones
- Community News – Updates from the Great Lakes research community
- In Memoriam – Tributes to members who have passed
Contributing to Lakes Letter
We welcome submissions from IAGLR members and the broader Great Lakes research community:
- Pitch an Article – Share your research, insights, or perspectives on Great Lakes issues
- Propose a Themed Issue – Guest editors (especially partnerships between senior scientists and early career researchers) are encouraged to submit proposals
- Submit News – Share your achievements, awards, publications, or community updates

The International Association for Great Lakes Research is a scientific organization dedicated to studying large lake ecosystems, with a primary focus on the Laurentian Great Lakes and other significant global lake systems.
